For over twenty years, ceramist Marie-Joël Turgeon has been shaping clay into functional, everyday beauty. She is the co-founder of Atelier Tréma, a studio-boutique in Bedford, in Quebec's Eastern Townships, where each piece — bowls, plates, mugs, oil cruets, and tableware — is handcrafted and fired on-site. Her creative vision draws from small, everyday details — textures, scents, light, and memories of a childhood spent in the region she still calls home — and shows most distinctly in her use of wild clay, a local material she has gathered along the riverbanks and shores of her region for years, and which has become a signature of some of her most distinctive pieces.
Alongside co-owner Jordan Lentik, Turgeon brings decades of experience to a practice built on precision and durability — sturdy, everyday pieces designed to hold up to daily use, from the oven to the dishwasher.
