If you have more time, these are the area's must see attractions.  Many of them are accessible by local trolley, so don't worry about driving.  The Trolley runs constantly on weekends.

The meticulously restored house and its beautiful gardens offer spectacular views of the Hudson River and the Highlands. You don't have to travel hours to Rhinebeck or Hudson NY to experience the best of the Hudson Valley.  Just 30-45min from Westchester and Connecticut, and an hour north of Manhattan, Cold Spring is easily accessible, making it a perfect day trip or weekend getaway. You can reach Cold Spring by:

• Car: Take the scenic drive along the Palisades Parkway and Route 9D. Parking in Cold Spring is free during the week (Mon-Thursday). But be sure to use the Park Mobile app on weekends, or park free at the train station.

Absolutely! The stores along Main Street are all pet friendly, as are many of the restaurants with outdoor seating. (It is best to ask before taking your dog into the store.) Most shop owners have doggie bowls and offer treats for pups.  A trip to the riverfront park and you will see local dogs playing in the shallows of Hudson River during warmer months.
